Privacy Policy

This policy applies to Synthze, the Android synthesizer, and Synthze Player, the Android music player, together referred to as the Apps. The Apps do not require a user account. Most settings, libraries, presets, and playback information remain on your device, except where you choose to use an online feature described below.

1. Who this policy covers

Synthze Labs is responsible for the Apps and this website. This policy explains what the Apps access, how that information is used, and when information leaves your device. It does not replace the privacy policies of Google Play, radio stations, lyric providers, or other third-party services you choose to use through the Apps.

2. Synthze synthesizer

On-Device Storage

Synthze stores your presets, projects, settings, imported MIDI files, and other musical work locally on your Android device. We do not operate an account system or a cloud database for this data.

Purpose: Core App Functionality

Bluetooth MIDI

Bluetooth and Nearby devices access is used to find and connect compatible MIDI controllers. On some older Android versions, Android requires location permission while scanning for nearby Bluetooth devices. Synthze does not use this permission for location features or to track your location.

Purpose: MIDI Connectivity

Synthze may use file access for user-initiated MIDI, preset, and recording workflows. Where Android provides a system file picker, you select the specific file to share. Legacy storage permissions are used only on older Android versions that require them.

Synthze uses internet access and Google Play Billing to show available in-app products, process purchases, and restore previous purchases. Payment information is handled by Google Play; Synthze does not receive or store your full payment-card details.

3. Synthze Player

Local media and settings

Synthze Player can read local audio and video media that you allow Android to share with it. It uses that access to display and play your library. Playback settings, favourites, queues, and other app preferences are stored locally on your device.

Purpose: Media Playback

Playback notifications

Notification, foreground-media-service, and wake-lock capabilities support playback controls and playback when the app is not open. They do not grant access to contacts, the microphone, location, camera, SMS messages, or calendar data.

Purpose: Background Playback

You can decline or revoke media, video, and notification permissions in Android Settings. A feature that depends on a declined permission may not be available, while unrelated features can continue to work.

4. Synthze Player online features

Local playback does not require an internet connection. When you choose an online feature, Synthze Player connects directly to the relevant service or content provider. Those requests can disclose standard connection data, such as your IP address, device or app user-agent, and request timing, to that provider.

Live radio and streamingRadioBrowser is used to find station information and register station-play requests. The selected radio station or stream provider receives your connection to deliver audio.
LyricsWhen you search for online lyrics, the song title and, where available, artist, album, and duration are sent to LRCLIB to find matching lyrics. Embedded or local lyrics are read from your device.
Artwork and soundscapesRemote artwork is downloaded from its source when needed. The Relax section retrieves its catalog from a Synthze-hosted endpoint and may then connect to the relevant audio or artwork provider.

We do not operate user accounts, advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, crash-reporting services, or cloud sync in the Apps. We do not sell your personal information or musical data. Third-party providers process their own requests under their own privacy policies; please review those policies before using their services.

5. Website data and cookies

This website does not provide user accounts, contact forms, or in-site analytics. When you visit it, our hosting and content-delivery providers may process standard web-request data, such as IP address, browser information, and request logs, to deliver and secure the site.

Cookies and similar technologies

The website does not use advertising, marketing, analytics, or other non-essential cookies. Our hosting and content-delivery providers may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies when needed for security, bot protection, network management, or delivery of the site.

Because we do not use non-essential cookies, the website does not show a cookie consent preference panel. If we introduce analytics, advertising, embedded third-party media, or another non-essential technology in the future, we will update this policy and request your consent before it is enabled.

6. Data retention, sharing, and security

Local retention: App data stored on your device stays there until you remove it, uninstall the relevant App, or clear its data in Android Settings. We do not keep server-side copies of your presets, projects, local media library, or app settings.

Sharing: We do not sell or rent personal information. Data is sent to Google Play or an online content provider only when needed for the purchase or online feature you choose to use.

Security: The Apps use the network services needed for their features. Some third-party radio streams may use HTTP rather than HTTPS; this is a property of the station's stream service.

7. Your choices and contact

You can remove locally stored App data by uninstalling an App or clearing its data in Android Settings. You can also manage individual Android permissions in Settings and avoid online features you do not want to use.
